Government Incentives & Rebates
Agriculture Clean Technology Program
The Canadian government has allocated $165.7 million in funding to enhance sustainability in the country's agri-food sector using green technologies such as solar power. This funding is part of the newly introduced Agricultural Clean Technology Program, a subsidy aimed at promoting the development and adoption of clean technology in the farming industry. The program has a target of reducing up to 1 megaton of greenhouse gas emissions by March 31, 2026.
To be eligible for the Agricultural Clean Technology Program, participants must be legally incorporated in Canada and can include agri-food processors, farms, nonprofit cooperatives, indigenous groups, and sole proprietors.
- Projects valued at $50,000 or more, up to a maximum of $2 million per project, can qualify for funding.
- Multiple applications are allowed, with a maximum of $5 million per owner across all eligible projects.
- For-profit entities are required to cover 50% of project costs, non-profits contribute 25%, and farms with underrepresented ownership groups may qualify for 40% contributions.
Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership
The Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (Sustainable CAP) is a new $3.5-billion, 5-year agreement (April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2028), between the federal, provincial and territorial governments to strengthen the competitiveness, innovation, and resiliency of the agriculture, agri‐food and agri‐based products sector. The agreement includes $1 billion in federal programs and activities and $2.5 billion in cost-shared programs and activities funded by federal, provincial and territorial governments.Learn More
Net Zero Accelerator Initiative
The Net Zero Accelerator (NZA) initiative invites forward-looking Canadian companies to contribute to Canada's global leadership efforts by meeting its ambitious target of reducing GHG emissions by 40 to 45% by 2030, and achieve net zero by 2050. The NZA supports the Government of Canada's strengthened climate plan, With up to $8 billion in funding to support large-scale investments in key industrial sectors across the country, the NZA ensures that Canada:Learn More
Barns and Livestock
Barns play a crucial role in housing livestock and storing feed and equipment. Solar power can provide electricity to power lighting systems, ventilation, heating, cooling, and other essential equipment in barns, promoting animal welfare and creating a comfortable environment for livestock.
Water Pumps and Irrigation
Water is a vital resource in agricultural practices, particularly for irrigation purposes. Our solar solutions can power water pumps, ensuring a consistent and efficient water supply for irrigation systems, livestock hydration, and crop cultivation. Solar-powered irrigation systems reduce reliance on traditional grid electricity or diesel generators, leading to cost savings and a more sustainable water management approach.
From tractors and machinery to milking machines and grain dryers, farms rely on various types of equipment that require electricity. Solar power can be utilized to provide energy to power these equipment, reducing the reliance on grid electricity and minimizing operational costs.
In remote or off-grid farming locations, connecting to the utility grid may not be feasible or cost-effective. Solar Power Store offers off-grid solar solutions, allowing farms to generate and store their electricity through battery systems. These off-grid solutions provide reliable power for all farm operations, including lighting, equipment, and water pumping, even in areas without access to the electrical grid.Shop Off-Grid
